Competitive points are one of the currencies in Overwatch, similar to Credits. They can only be used to buy golden weapons. Players stop earning points if they have 6,000 unspent points, though they will still receive their end-of-season rewards. Competitive points are awarded to players who win or draw a match in Competitive Play, with a rank based bonus at the end of every season.
Season 18 - 24 (current)[edit | edit source]
Beginning with season 18 role-queue was introduced, with a different rank given for each of the three roles (tank, damage and support). Competitive points are awarded separately for each rank. Awards per game for wins and draws are the same as previous seasons. (15 competitive points per win, and 5 competitive points for a tie.)
|Tier||Points Earned Per Role||Total Points Earned*|
*Total assuming the same rank in all three roles.
Season 6 - 17[edit | edit source]
Since Season 6 there are only 2 months in a season instead of the usual 3 therefore the competitive points rewarded are lower. Players are awarded 15 competitive points per win, and 5 competitive points for a tie.
Season 2 - 5[edit | edit source]
In Season 2, 3, 4 and 5, ten competitive points are received for each match won in Competitive Play, and three points are received for each match tied in Competitive Play. A large number of points will be received at the end of the season, based on the player's final tier.
Season 1[edit | edit source]
In Season 1, only one competitive point was received for each match won in Competitive Play, and no points were earned for ties. The number of points received at the end of the season was based on the player's highest rank.
