• The line "From one thing, know ten thousand things" is from the kenjutsu text Go Rin No Sho/The Book of Five Rings by Miyamoto Musashi, a Japanese swordsman.
• The line "I choose you, spirit dragon" is a reference to a famous catchphrase from the Pokémon anime in which main character Ash Ketchum calls out "I choose you!" while sending out one of his Pokémon for battle.
• The line "You are already dead" is the catchphrase of Kenshiro, the protagonist of Fist of the North Star manga series in which he says it before finishing off an enemy.
• The line "Just so" could be a reference to the Game of Thrones character Syrio Forel, who repeats the line while training Arya Stark in the first season and book.
