Iggy is an omnic that lives in the Underworld, an omnic city beneath King's Row.

Story[ | ]

Iggy is a fan of English pop music. Her favorite bands are the Stooges, the Ramones, and the Beatles. She is far less appreciative of omnic music, not even sure if it could be called such a thing.[1]

Background[ | ]

Iggy was the first omnic I ever met. Before I moved to the chem lab it was just...machines. Then I got traded to the testing division, and there she was. It was after the war...when everything was new and I wasn't sure what being an omnic even meant. Iggy felt the music first. She was the first one to fall in love with it. Then...she gave it to me. It wasn't just music. It was the idea of who we could be. Of what was possible.

Iggy in the lab

Iggy worked in a lab with a technician who introduced her to human music with the song Lust for Life by Iggy Pop. Over time she developed an interest in music,[2] and shared her appreciation with two of her omnic co-workers; Lady and Lizzy.[2] Iggy moved into the Underworld, rooming with Lizzy and Lady.[1]

Meeting Tracer[ | ]

IggyTracer2

Iggy meets Tracer

Iggy met Tracer while attempting to steal a modulator from a vendor that refused to sell to omnics. The two quickly bonded over their shared love of classic English rock music, and Iggy took her to the Underworld to listen to old records. As she left, Tracer offered to do what she could to help Iggy and the other omnics living in the Underworld, and promised Iggy that they'd meet again.[1]

Discussing Kace and culture

Iggy bringing Tracer into the Underworld didn't go unnoticed, as she was confronted by Kace and his followers. Tracer stumbled upon the confrontation. Kace left, but not without warning Iggy that humans had no honor, and that one day, Iggy would see this truth. Iggy was despondent, but was cheered up when Tracer revealed that she'd brought an Iggy Pop record with her. In her quarters, Iggy explained that there were omnics who feared losing themselves if they embraced human culture. Iggy explained that she didn't believe her love of human culture didn't require her to forsake being omnic. Tracer headed off, explaining that she only needed a few more parts to fix the grid.

That night, Iggy was once again confronted by Kace. Iggy explained that Tracer had promised to help get parts to fix the grid, but Kace was unconvinced, asking what good music would do them in the next blackout. On cue, the Underworld was plunged into darkness. Kace, losing patience, led his followers out of the Underworld, determined to acquire the parts they needed through theft. Despite the grim situation, Iggy refused to give up hope.

Iggy tells Tracer that Mondatta is looking for her

The next day, Iggy met Tracer in the street. She'd managed to acquire a regulator, but Iggy explained that the grid needed a new transformer, and that without it, the grid would continue to fail. Furthermore, she told Iggy that Tekhartha Mondatta, leader of the Shambali, wanted to contact her. Tracer explained that they'd met during the King's Row Uprising, but didn't know why Mondatta would want to see her. Iggy didn't know either, but told Tracer that his followers were trying to get in touch. That he was giving a speech at King's Row tonight, and wanted to see her before giving it.

Alive[ | ]

How can he just be gone? It doesn't seem real.
What's real is that they killed him.
Who killed him?
A human, Lizzy, a human.

Iggy wonders where Tracer has gone

Iggy went to the gathering and was overjoyed at seeing so many humans and omnics present, including omnics that she thought would have never come. She met with Tracer in the crowd, and listened to Mondatta as he began to speak. However, Tracer suddenly headed off. An omnic pointed out that Tracer was a former member of Overwatch, and Iggy reflected that if Tracer had headed off like that, maybe something was wrong. Iggy headed to the rooftops and saw Tracer engaged in a firefight with an assassin. She watched as the assassin fired her rifle, and Tracer blinked to avoid the bullet...which allowed said bullet to hit Mondatta instead, killing him. Iggy, distraught, reflected that Tracer could have saved Mondatta, but hadn't.

Iggy headed back to the street, telling her fellow omnics that Tracer had blinked out of the way, allowing Mondatta to be killed. And that she didn't know why.[3]

Death[ | ]

Mondatta taught us that we are all one. When an omnic dies, the whole of us are that much smaller. When one of us ceases to be, a part of us ceases to be. We hold onto what we have lost. Of the part of us we have lost. To remind us of what was once, of who we are.
~ Iggy at Lady's funeral

Iggy is consumed by bitterness

Back in the Underworld, Iggy, Lady, and Lizzy listened to music. Iggy let her bitterness consume her, stating that "they" had killed Mondatta. They, as in, humans. Lady pointed out that Iggy didn't know who'd fired the shot, and that Tracer had clearly not fired the bullet, but Iggy wasn't swayed. Even if Tracer hadn't fired the shot, someone had killed Mondatta, and Tracer had let them. Later, they attended a rally held by Kace, arguing that it was time for omnics to strike back at humanity. Lady and Lizzy were uneasy with Kace's aggressive stance, worried that the tense situation could escalate, but Iggy found herself swayed to Kace's words. In her mind, things were already bad, and humanity was at fault.

On the surface, the three took part in a protest in King's Row, coupled with omnics and human allies. Special Ops were called in, and a sonic pulse was deployed. In the chaos, Lady was hit at point-blank range. Tracer, who'd arrived on the scene, helped Iggy take Lady back to the Underworld, but she expired. Iggy spoke at her funeral.

In the aftermath, Iggy and Tracer discussed Lady's death. Iggy claimed that she couldn't understand—humans could repopulate, but omnics couldn't be replaced. Tracer left, forced out by Kace.[4]

Revolution[ | ]

To the omnics for Kace! Listen up! I am Iggy, an omnic! Obviously you already know that. Listen to me! Kace is not our leader! He is planning on destroying the grid! The thing that powers our home. For what?! To destroy humans? To start another war? How does it bring us anything but more violence? When violence has already taken so many of us. When it's already cost too many of us too much. Mondatta told us that we are all one. Humans and omnics. I know sometimes that's hard to believe. And the humans need to step up, don't get me wrong. But some of them are. The revolution is us recognising the past and working together to make the future better. I'm not asking you to stop fighting. I'm asking you to help me fight for omnics, not against humans.
~ Iggy's declaration

Iggy confronts Kace

Iggy attended another of Kace's rallies, but while many omnics were swept up by his words, Iggy wasn't among them. She left, contacting Lizzy, who'd left the Underworld. As she walked, she came across an omnic sniper, who fired at Kace. Kace survived, and ordered the tunnels be searched for the assassin. Iggy confronted Kace, stating that she'd seen the shooter, and recognised the 'assassin' as one of Kace's own omnics. She realized that Kace had ordered one of his followers to shoot and intentionally miss, in order to scare the Underworld's omnics into following him. Kace might style himself as a leader, but he was no Mondatta.

Tracer rescues Iggy

Iggy was taken prisoner by Kace, intent on executing her. One of his followers held her over a drop, as Tracer and Lizzy arrived.[2] The thug let Iggy go, but Tracer was able to use her chronal accelerator to zip up, catch Iggy in mid-air, and get her to ground safely. They took cover from Kace's thugs, who opened fire on them. They reunited with Lizzy in the tunnels, who'd turned up with numerous omnics who wanted to get out of the Underworld. She informed them that Kace's followers were rounding up everyone, forcing the omnics to fight for him. Tracer ordered Iggy and Lizzy to take the east side of the Underworld, while she'd take the west. They'd rendezvous back here, and lead the omnics out.

A few hours later, the exodus set off. However, Kace's followers barred the exit. Kace stated that any omnic who refused to join the revolution was a traitor, and his thugs opened fire. The omnics scattered. Tracer was able to distract them and reunited with them, alongside Winston—another former Overwatch agent. She told Lizzy and Iggy to head for the entrance, while she and Winston drew Kace's forces deeper into the Underworld. Iggy told Tracer that she had to stop Kace. That if he took out the grid, it would devastate the Underworld's omnics. She agreed, and the groups parted ways.

Leading the revolution

As Iggy and Lizzy led the omnics, Iggy discussed her surprise that Tracer wasn't angry at her. She regretted that she'd turned on Tracer after Mondatta's death. Lizzy comforted her, and in doing so, inadvertantly led Iggy to believe that they shouldn't be fighting. They could save the Underworld. To this end, she made a broadcast, addressing Kace's followers, before walking up to face Kace directly. His followers dropped their weapons, but Kace wasn't swayed, drawing out a pistol and shooting at Iggy. Tracer used her blink ability to take the bullet, but due to her malfunctioning chronal accelerator, couldn't rewind time to negate the damage. The bullet ended up richocheting within her body due to the botched rewind.

Tracer was taken to a hospital, and after eight hours of surgery, was saved. Iggy told her that the omnics who held vigil during the operation had played Lust for Life on repeat. Tracer said that they "must have tipped it," given that a week later, she had fully recovered.[5]

Null Sector[ | ]

Iggy was present in the Underworld when it came under attack by Null Sector. Overwatch arrived to save her and her fellow omnics.[6]
