Background
India was one of the battlefields of the Omnic Crisis, and the nation's populace was left displaced by the war's end. The Vishkar Corporation, based in the country's south, began the task of creating new, self-sustaining cities to house the nation's displaced population.[1]

- An advertisement for India appears in Grand Central Terminal.
Development
- A control point map simply named India was pitched during development of Overwatch.[2]
- During BlizzCon 2021, a map from an unknown game mode located in India was showcased to be featured in Overwatch 2. It was said to be one of the largest maps in the game.[3]
- In the Overwatch 2: Invasion Reveal Livestream on June 21, 2023, it was revealed that the "India" map was originally supposed to be an Assault map. However, with the game mode being removed from standard play, the development team still wanted the location to be represented, so it was repurposed for the Flashpoint game mode and released as Suravasa.[4]
