The Overwatch Anniversary, also known as Year One, is an event in Overwatch to celebrate the release of Overwatch every year.

Dates

• 2020: May 10th - June 9th
• 2019: May 21st - June 10th
• 2018: May 22nd - June 11th
• 2017: May 23rd - June 12th

Cosmetics

All loot boxes bought or earned during the event were shaped like ordinary loot boxes but had a blackened color scheme. Each contains at least one Overwatch Anniversary cosmetic. Overwatch Anniversary cosmetics could also be unlocked with credits through the Hero Gallery while the event was running.

Overwatch Anniversary cosmetics include:

• 22 hero skins
• 24 hero-exclusive sprays, and a general spray
• 48 voice lines
• 11 skins
• 27 emotes
• New player icons

Maps

The event also released three new arena maps: Black Forest, Castillo, and Necropolis, which are based on Eichenwalde, Dorado and Temple of Anubis, respectively.

Trivia

• Individual pieces of content reveals were done by different Overwatch accounts: the Dance emote reveals were done by the Spanish team, the Voice line reveals done by the English team, and the Map reveals were done by the European team, Skin reveals done by the South Korean team.
• The new Eichenwalde arena map is inspired by Black Forest from The Last Bastion animated short.
