The Play menu.
Playlists are collections of game modes available via the Play menu.
Game modes in the same playlist have rulesets with similar themes, such as grouping standard play modes into one playlist. Each game mode in their respective playlist has separate queues, but all modes aside from Competitive are cross-play.
In any playlist, players may right-click a game mode to view the ruleset.
Available Playlists[ | ]
Unranked[ | ]
"Jump into a game against other players of your skill level."
The Unranked playlist contains:
- Quick Play (Role Queue)
- Quick Play (Open Queue)
- Mystery Heroes
- Deathmatch (FFA)
Competitive[ | ]
The Competitive playlist.
"Compete against other players and work your way up the ranks."
The Competitive playlist contains:
- Competitive Play (Role Queue)
- Competitive Play (Open Queue)
This playlist also includes the information panels for Competitive Progress, the Top 500 Leaderboard, and the Competitive Tier Legend.
Arcade[ | ]
"New game modes! New rules! New maps! Enter the Arcade."
The Arcade playlist contains:
- Assault Maps
- No Limits
- Four random modes from the Arcade pool that rotate daily.
- The current event game mode, if there is an ongoing event.
Hero Mastery[ | ]
"Enter the simulation and improve your skills in solo and co-op modes!"
The Hero Mastery playlist contains:
- Solo Courses (Single Player)
- Gauntlet (Co-Op)
Custom Games[ | ]
"Find that best match or just create one."
The Custom Games playlist contains the Custom Game Browser, where players can choose a Custom Game lobby to join; it also allows players to create their own Custom Games.
Missions[ | ]
The Missions playlist allows players to access the three Story Missions: Resistance, Liberation, and Ironclad. It also includes all of the lore for the Story Missions, including hero information, communication logs, and faction history.
Training[ | ]
"Practice your skills alone or with friends."

These playlists were previously available via the play menu, but have since been removed from the game and replaced.
- Weekly Brawl (replaced by Arcade in 2016)
- Game Browser (replaced by Custom Games)
