Hey Amh3jhw6! Thanks for your contribs to the lore for Overwatch, any additions are highly welcomed! Cheers! --Z3ther (talk) 15:15, 24 November 2014 (UTC)

So, I'd really appreciate it if you stopped undoing my changes to the intro of Symmetra's story section. Changes I made, believing they were for the better. I'll explain my reasoning so we can hopefully come to an understanding.
1. removing the "though she dislikes killing" bit: Feels out of place in that particular section. I added this to the "A Better World" section instead, where it felt more appropriate since that's where it's actually from. Keeping it in the intro is quite redundant imo.
2. "despite the times" -> "but there are times": Since this section is more or less taken from her official bio, I made the change to bring it completely in line with that. In addition "despite the times" communicates something different. It implies that Symmetra is doing all of her actions for Vishkar, DESPITE her doubts, which indicates she is actively ignoring these doubts. "But there are times" more accurately communicates that Symmetra believes she is doing good, but her faith isn't unshakeable; there are moments where she actively questions whether what she is doing is right.
3. "she is confirmed to be autistic" -> "she is on the autism spectrum": The use of confirmed makes this an out-of-universe sentence, while the rest of the section is written in-universe. I changed it to autism spectrum to stick with the comic's wording, but I would not be opposed to changing it back to "autistic" since Jeff has used that wording.
4. "trouble socializing, dislike of crowds, an obsession with structured environments, and inability to empathize" -> "having trouble with social interactions, suffering from sensory overload and preferring environments that are structured and harmonious": Symmetra does not have trouble socializing, she's not a shut-in, so I changed it to be more accurate. What Symmetra has trouble with is social cues and what is and isn't appropriate in social situations (i.e. getting distracted by the crooked picture and momentarily pausing her rant; in general she is also quite blunt during her conversation with the mayor). Dislike of crowds is too broad and non-specific; Symmetra doesn't like crowds because there's too much going on (sounds, smells, etc.). Therefore, I believe "suffering from sensory overload" is a better way of phrasing it. The an obsession with structured environments was just rephrased to be consistent with the phrasing I used for the previous two, the meaning is still more or less the same. I removed "inability to empathize" because it seemed overly harsh, not just on Symmetra, but people that have autism in general. In Symmetra's case, it's probably true to some extent that she has trouble seeing things from others' perspective, but I wouldn't say she's unable to empathize at all.
5. removing "Symmetra herself believes she's on the autism spectrum": This came across as redundant, because Symmetra being autistic is already mentioned earlier within the same paragraph, and also kind of rude, as if it's a thing in her head or something she doesn't fully understand. Symmetra doesn't just believe she's on the autism spectrum, she IS on the autism spectrum.
I genuinely believe all these changes I've made were for the better, so I would appreciate it if you'd at least explain why you undid all of it. Crookandcharlatan (talk) 08:52, 10 October 2017 (UTC)
Response:
1. It still feels out of place there, to me. I've done an attempt at rephrasing it and working it more smoothly into the paragraph.
2. Thanks.
3. This just reads really awkward to me. I don't see what's wrong with saying "Symmetra is autistic" or "Symmetra is on the autism spectrum" and then putting it in trivia or something that outright confirmation first came from a letter from Jeff. Regardless, we know the writers' intent was to show Symmetra as an individual with autism, so I don't see why a reference to out-of-universe sources is necessary there specifically.
4. It was not, I've added it now. Crookandcharlatan (talk) 10:17, 10 October 2017 (UTC)

Question about Hammond Zhang[]

Hey, Hawki. I've been looking for where it's indicated that Hammond is Dr. Zhang's first name. I was inactive during the launch of Horizon Lunar Colony and I'm afraid I missed something obvious. Since you were the one who added Hammond Zhang, I was hoping you could let me know. Thanks! - TheModster (talk) 03:26, 14 December 2017 (UTC)

RE: Disambiguation pages[]

  • If a disambiguation page needs three or more entries to exist, then all of these should also be deleted for only having two entries each: Retribution, Nguyen (disambiguation), Recall (disambiguation) and Total Mayhem. - ✨Adipup✨ (talk) 15:25, 3 April 2019 (UTC)

Game Informer #108[]

I have a question about the issue of Game Informer you listed on a couple Deadlock articles. From as far as I can tell, Issue 108 of Game Informer was released in 2002. Are you certain it's Issue 108? Not, say, Issue 308 released in December 2018 (a month after Reunion)? TenTonParasol (talk) 17:29, 6 April 2019 (UTC)

On Reinhardt’s skin trivia[]

Gridiron may not have the same aesthetic as Blood Bowl in terms of colors, but the skin has Reinhardt very CLEARLY covered in (American) football gear/armor. It has both the same type of helmet and pauldrons And Blood Bowl is literally the only merging of (American) football and Fantasy that is out there (, so there’s no way it’s NOT Blood Bowl.

As for the Blood/Blackhardt skins, actually take look at a Nightmare from (specifically) Soulcaliber 4 (google some images or whatnot). The resemblance is far too uncanny. Both have armor with a big glowing spot right in the middle of their waist with teeth on the top and bottom of such. Add in the spines on the shoulder armor and there a clear match.

For the 76 trivia, no he doesn’t have a voice line for it, but he fits the phrase from Harvey Dent to a T.

McCree[]

Hi, I noticed that Cassidy still has his old name on this template. Just writing to let you know in case you wanted to change it because I don't have permission to do it. Cheers.

Map Music[]

Heyo, I notice on the map articles (such as Hanamura), at the top of the page is a clip of the map's theme. It currently looks like it is just tossed up there and doesn't seem to make much sense. Would it be ideal to maybe create a new section on the articles titled Music/Theme and have a description of what the song is? That way we aren't burying the lede. Any thoughts/opinions? ~tya 17:51, 19 January 2022 (UTC)

Mech page reference[]

If you could please repair the Heroes of the Storm links on the Mech page, because I have no way to confirm where you sourced the first statement.--Mondoblasto (talk) 03:21, 20 May 2022 (UTC)

Fixed it. The first source comes from the game itself, the second from D.Va's announcement back in the day.Hawki (talk) 09:41, 20 May 2022 (UTC)

Pride Month sitenotice[]

Hey Hawki, Fandom would like to post a sitenotice promoting Pride Month, the pages Tracer and Emily, and the upcoming roundtables, and I wanted to run it by you first and make sure it's okay and check if maybe there's other character to include too. Here's what the text would be:

It's [https://community.fandom.com/wiki/User_blog:Idekmandy/Celebrate_Pride_Month_with_Fandom Pride Month with Fandom], and Overwatch's cast has a bit of representation we'd like to highlight: [[Tracer]] and [[Emily]]. A big thank you to everyone who has helped make those articles and the whole wiki what they are!

There will also be three roundtable discussions in the Fandom Discord server over the month:
Discussing [https://discord.gg/wGbCMpccdW?event=979324555103457280 LGBTQIA+ video games and characters] on June 15, [https://discord.gg/wGbCMpccdW?event=983867316129382500 LGBTQIA+ icons and activists] on June 22, and [https://discord.gg/wGbCMpccdW?event=983868277967183944 a discussion with LGBTQIA+ wiki admins] on June 29.

Added bureaucrat rights[]

Hey, I noticed the conversation on the main page talk and gave you bureaucrat rights since you're the only active admin and this wiki doesn't have a bureaucrat (the Gamepedia practice of not having crats is kinda in the past now). Be careful about who you hand admin rights out to, and especially who you hand crat rights out to, since you can't take them away afterwards, but otherwise enjoy.

Denoting Quotes as exclusive to Overwatch 2?[]

Hi Hawki, I was wondering about the huge amount of new hero quotes that I've been hearing in the Overwatch 2 beta. But these new quotations have not been put into the original Overwatch just yet, so if we want to show that a line for heroes that have got it in Overwatch 2, but not Overwatch, should we add a small Overwatch 2 icon to denote this? For example, Moira says "Humanity is shackled. I will find the key." as her first spawn quote, but we need to show viewers that this isn't found in Overwatch 1. So what do you think of this? Making a template for this should make the job much easier too. GameBoy2936 (talk) 05:31, 29 June 2022 (UTC)

Mauga's (possibly) wrong reference[]

Hello! I've recently changed the reference on Mauga's page from "Overwatch 2, Sojourn" to "Overwatch, Sombra" but the change was reverted. Maybe I'm missing something but the thing is, I couldn't find anything about Mauga on the Sojourn's page. On the Sombra's page however there is an interaction with Baptiste about Mauga. Doesn't that mean that there is a wrong reference here?

New Wiki Rep[]

Hi Hawki! I'm ReverieCode, and I was just assigned to this wiki to be your new Wiki Representative. I'm going to be replacing Mr Pie 5, who unfortunately no longer works for Fandom.

I know the change of WRs can be a bit confusing sometimes, but I'm glad to be here and happy to be of assistance whenever needed. So, if you have anything at all to report, any Fandom-related questions, or if you happen know of any user who has reports/questions to make, please feel free to send them my way, and I’ll do my best to help out. Cheers! –ReverieCode 13:54, 22 August 2022 (UTC)

Cargo issue with Brigitte's relations[]

Hello. I'm contacting you because you're an admin on this wiki and have been active here recently.

A user on the Fandom/Gamepedia Discord server showed a screenshot of a Lua error in an article on this wiki. I investigated the issue, and I believe its cause is that the relations list for Brigitte was too long for the Cargo extension, as a result of which all attempts to store Cargo data from that page (including all abilities) silently failed. I believe that the list has become too long to fit in a field of type String, and the type of the field in the corresponding table should be changed to Text. However, I believe this requires recreating the table, which cannot be done without administrative access.

As a temporary fix, I removed the relations list from the infobox, and as part of the debugging process, I added some code for more informative error messages to Module:Show. These should be safe to revert after the Characters table is recreated, assuming that does indeed address the issue.

Null-editing affected pages, listed as pages with script errors, should be enough to fix the remaining visible issues after the fix is live. With the temporary fix currently in place, the ability information is also stored properly, so a null edit I performed now fixed a page.

Please let me know if you have further questions, or if you believe the proposed solution is unsatisfactory. --AttemptToCallNil (talk) 00:55, 18 September 2022 (UTC)

The same issue is happening with other pages like Wrecking Ball, because of data exceeding the the length limit. Special:Diff/127958 is a temporary fix, which will break if data exceeds 300 chars length. --BryghtShadow (talk) 05:33, 23 September 2022 (UTC)

Hi, I am Fandom's new Senior Community Manager for Gaming[]

Hello there! My name is Jieyang and I'm going around saying hi to admins in the community. I joined about two weeks ago but you'll be seeing me around more in the future.

I'm actually a hardcore Overwatch fan. I used to run a YouTube channel covering different patches and even posted them on the subreddits. My love for the game has admittedly waned over the last year or two, but I'm hoping to jump back into it next month with the release of OW2. I played the beta and it was decent.

You can learn more about me through my blog. Feel free to drop me a message on Discord as well! - Itsjieyang (talk) 16:02, 27 September 2022 (UTC)

Hey can you fix the Discord link in community? I'm interested in joining the Wiki's Discord server. My Discord is Julian Invictus#0001.

Blanks[]

Why is it I find that a couple of pages have blanks to there history, some of them don’t even have a real origin of how they came to be if that answers your question. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Wolfman8 (talkcontribs)

I agree with your statement that it makes a sense, however if nobody is pay attention to it then why leave it🤔, at least make it somewhat of a background instead of having a blank check. It just makes it boring that a user what just find a page like you said "how come there’s no history involved, what was the city doing at that time”, you know things like that. I’m all about when a character or a city has a short background, but I’m the guy that goes way beyond limit. Details are important. But nobody wants to read a blank statement of that city is connected of hyper loop to another. It just sounds blank to me. I’m just Curious. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Wolfman8 (talkcontribs)

Sojourn[]

Hawki I removed that part of sojourns page because if you noticed that image was deleted by another of your admins. so now it just shows a broken link with a description. thats why I had removed the description part as well. because there is no image anymore for it.

Thanks, restored the image.Hawki (talk) 09:47, 25 February 2023 (UTC)

Cargo changes to ability details[]

I some while ago left a request on the admin noticeboard to change the column types in the Abilities table (defined in {{Ability details}}) to parse html in queries, which I did not get a reply to, so I'd like to ask again directly. I consulted fandom discord on this and was told that it is probably the cause, but also that it would be better to only store raw data in cargo tables. However, the latter would mean larger changes to the structure, so I'm hoping changing the types would be enough.

Additionally, I'd like to ask if we could make the hero info description the main ability description that is stored and displayed, as the official page simply does not list all abilities. — taQtaQ (talk) 11:46, 31 March 2023 (UTC)

I saw your reply. It's just that all other admins are listed as inactive in Community Portal. I could make the required changes, if that's fine with you, but I'll need an admin to recreate the cargo table afterwards to get the changes through. Alternatively, we could maybe ask the wiki rep to give a hand. — taQtaQ (talk) 23:21, 4 April 2023 (UTC)
I have now made the changes. Could you recreate the table at Special:CargoTables/Abilities? — taQtaQ (talk) 09:20, 11 April 2023 (UTC)
It actually won't let me edit it. We might need someone from Wikia.Hawki (talk) 22:58, 11 April 2023 (UTC)
That's fine. I just stumbled on a possible workaround for the thing I was trying to make, so while it would be good to get the description change through, we can put this matter on hold for now. — taQtaQ (talk) 22:00, 12 April 2023 (UTC)

Locking Sigma page[]

Could the page be set so that anonymous users cannot edit it. It has been getting a lot of unwanted attention over the past few days, and overall there has been bad edits more often than other pages due to certain memes. — taQtaQ (talk) 14:30, 21 April 2023 (UTC)

Health Bar Graphic[]

Can I add a mock-but-still-accurate image to the hit points page? An image that would be at the top right. Something like this.

Admin+[]

Hey there! I’m reaching out to introduce the Admin+ program (if you haven’t heard about it already!) & let you know I’m here if you have any questions about it. Take a look at the details here & feel free to send over any questions you have. pikushi ✧.* 16:24, 13 September 2023 (UTC)

Locations and businesses[]

Hey Hawki, as you know, I have been working on adding all businesses and most buildings to have their own pages on the wiki, if you want - I can tag you on discord to let you know when one is done so you can add the categories (I will only tag if it's a new page). Let me know if you want me to do this.

Thanks! - Someoneelsesomewhere

About the revert...[]

Now I'm not really too comfortable with using the Talk option, usually I would just see a Message option instead but that's alright I guess.

But really I kinda felt that they both are somewhat similar, I know it's very far fetched for me to say that their overall shape, design, and cuteness look similar, but you and I know that Overwatch is inspired by other games, and one of those is Team Fortress 2.

But really what makes me think that Ganymede is inspired by Archimedes is how they have "mede" in it, I know I'm not the only one here who realized it but when I read "Gany-mede" it somewhat reminds me of "Archi-medes". The devs could have chosen any type of bird at all like you said but they specifically chose Ganymede as the bird for Bastion.

But eh I guess it can be a coincidence but still, it would be great if it was a trivia reference!
